About the Organizer
Paula Tansey  phillyfitorg@verizon.net
Hi My name is Paula Tansey. In 2008 after spending most of my adult life as an avid walker, I decided to walk the Philadlephia Marathon. I joined USAFit/Philly and was motivated to give running a try. I did and found that I liked it! I ran the 2008 Philadelphia Marathon and in 2010 I ran the Disney World Goofy Challenge; a half marathon plus a full marathon over two days!! For me, USAFit/Philly is about setting your fitness goals and reaching them in a safe, fun environment. I hope I can help you do just that! Keep Smiling and Keep Moving.

Welcome! Several years ago I began running in order to control weight, reduce stress, and improve fitness. While I loved the benefits of my new hobby, something was still missing: other runners! Running with USA Fit brought me deeper knowledge of the sport and the increased motivation and joy that come from sharing the miles with friends. With the experience of nine full marathons and a host of other races, I look forward to helping others achieve their goals.

Welcome to USA Fit! This is my 6th year with USA Fit and my 2nd year as the head coach for the yellow pace group. Before I joined USA Fit, I never thought I could run farther than a 5K. I discovered that running with such a supportive group made the miles just fly by! It also taught me how to challenge myself and to go outside my comfort zone. Being a part of USA Fit has changed my life! I\'ve run four marathons, numerous half marathons, several Duathlons, triathlons and trail races. This winter I completed my first Ultra Marathon--a 50K (31 miles) hilly trail race! I am committed to helping you reach your goals and to enjoy this experience as much as I have!

Hello Runners! I\'m a long-time PhillyFitter who joined after deciding that running with newly found friends was a whole lot more fun than running alone. Some of my most memorable experiences have been with PhillyFit runners, and I\'ve learned many things about exercise, fitness, racing, and life from those with whom I\'ve had the good fortune to share the roads and trails. I\'ve been running seriously for about 12 years. With the help of a very supportive and occasionally enthusiastic family, I\'ve been able to participate in nearly 50 races of many sizes and styles. I\'m looking forward to passing on some of the magic that running can provide!

Head Coach
Hi! My name is Mark Diehl. I started training with Philly Fit in 2004 to run my first marathon. I had run many races(5K, 10K and several Half Marathons) prior to this and had even started training for a marathon but I never completed one until I joined Philly Fit. With the assistance of Philly Fit in 2004 I was able to complete the Philadelphia Marathon. After running several marathons, I was asked to be a coach for the red group and I have enjoyed doing this for the past two seasons. I would not have been able to complete seven marathons without the support of this group. I\\\'m looking forward to helping others this season run their first 1/2 marathon or Marathon.

Assistant Coach
Hi! My name is Doreen Smith. I started this journey as a recreational runner, running 3 miles or so several times a week. A few years ago, I decided I wanted to do a marathon. My husband saw a flyer in the local running store for USAFit/Philly. So in 2008, I joined USAFit/Philly and ran the Philadelphia Marathon. Slow and steady is my pace! I am not sure I would have been able to do it without the support of the USAFit/Philly members. Since 2008, I have run three ½ marathons. I look forward to running with you and helping you reach your fitness goals!

Hello walkers my name is Roy Attitude of Gratitude. In December of 2007 a friend told me walkers are welcomed at running races. As an avid walker for 25 years (my body made very clear to me I was not able to be a runner) who always wanted to finish a race I took full advantage to complete 10 mile and half marathon races. I searched and finally found USA Fit/Philly to train to finish a marathon-a dream I had well over 30 years ago! The support, friendship and encouragement were there from opening day to and including race day at the Philadelphia Marathon 2009. For me I would not have reached the finish line without USA Fit/Philly. The journey and the accomplishment of being a marathon finisher I shall cherish all my life. We welcome everyone regardless of ability as teammates and friends. Your goals whether they be a marathon or just better fitness become ours. As walkers we maybe outpaced but we will never be out\"fun\"ed. HAPPY WALKING
